For those who may not have had the privilage to fight in this great victory, I'm writing an account of it, so that the experience can be shared.
For a few of Sozei Bonsai's warriors, the day began on the floor of Shawn's house. It was 9 am, and it was Sunday. They had stayed up all night, cutting, sanding, drilling and lacing up armor for the next day, all that was left was the painting. Once that was done, it was off to Red Bug Lake park.
Upon arrival, things appeared to have been going to plan. Red Mangetsu greeted us, and an agreement was made. They said they'd be fighting on our side. We trusted them. We knew we'd have to make quick work of our enemy, Azure Gengetsu, before the other clans showed up. We thought we had until 5pm to kill Azure, but we didn't think that a plan was being laid against us. The other clans showed up on time all right, right on time to line up on the OTHER side of the field! We started to see the precision of it all. Azure, Red, Sabatsu Gumi, and the clan from Jacksonville all unified as one force against Sozei Bonsai. A good idea, line up an army with not only superior numbers, but also superior armor, and shields. Lots of Sheilds. A whole damn wall of them. Realization of the truth sank in quickly, as the battle began. One could see it in every face as our brave opening charge was met by a wall of sheilds and a storm of flailing foam.
A sick feeling crept into the stomachs of the brave Sosei Bonsai clan. We may be defeated. Our great pride nearly died in the dirt of that field, but it didn't. Our hearts beat hard, as one great force. As darkness fell, taunts were traded back and forth across the battle lines. Charges launched, and met on both sides. A brave group of pirates and Itsutaken, escorted by a pair of monks, nipped in at the flanks of the wall of sheilds. We fought like demons, battling into the side of that massive force. Their left flank (our right) fell to the efforts of Itsutaken. Arrows and insults flew as Caleb bravely shattered himself out, our first to fall. Darkness fell. Tempers that already glowed red with fury finally boiled over. In the face of battle, honor was not very high in the mind of the combatants. It was decided the best course of action was to call a hold, and move the battle to a lighted field.
A welcome rest for the fighters of Sosei Bonsai. A new plan was hatched. Let them come to us. Starve them out, bore them into charging. Once the battle began anew, our modified strategy met with success. Numbers meant nothing if only a few fools from their side could be baited foreward. Bit by bit, they came to meet the full force of our battle skill. Kyle, the Lion of Sosei Bonsai, his masterful command of our force kept our warriors alive, and took the lives of what brave fools dared charge our line.
About two hours in, hope started to shine on our faces, we realized that the battle could be won! Our preserverance had paid off in spades! Their numbers began
to dwindle. The same sick feeling that had once wrapped it's icy fingers around our hearts could now be plainly seen in the faces of what paltry numbers Red Mangetsu had left. Those that survived to this point in the battle now understood what it was like to be outnumbered. They paid the price for their clan's treachery at the point of our swords and our arrows. Not even a trace of Azure's men could be found, all shattered. West Palm's men filmed the closing moments from the sideline, and cheered us on. Finally, after a sideswiping attack robbed them of their last archer, they surrendered to Kyle, who took their heads.
The Battle of Red Bug Lake was ours!
Cheers and celebration erupted from our side, and even the slain enemies celebrated with us! The greatest victory in the history of Sosei Bonsai was won, thanks to the hardworking efforts of all who fought.
Every last one of those who fought did their part, from the noobs right up to those who've been with us since the beginning.
Thanks to everyone in the battle, this was one of the best moments in my life. Thank you all!

Nicely done. I like you're account. There area few flaws in your recollection but it is, after all a personal observation.
Quite flawed, Many important moments are not stated. Such as how when me and the other hero's as I believe we were called came up to be beheaded came with dignity and pride.
Also if I remember correctly your men were often cheating and talking while we made every effort at keeping up an honorable and decisive defense.
Also wasn't there a point when one of your mate body slammed a highly esteemed Bushi on our side?
Posting a comment on a blog that was roughly 7 months old is ridiculous.
Goggles, the person who wrote this piece was very biased.
That said you cant mistake skill for cheating.
It sucks to be destroyed by the 'Traitors and Dissenters'
That's such a load of shit. I was in azure and you completely turned the story around. We had few shields and damn near NO armor. Where as almost all your men had full equipment. And on OUR home field, your regent dared to come over and disqualify half our equipment, that jared himself had deemed safe. And on top of that, most of azure which accounted for most of our force aside from red mangetsu, are high schoolers that had to leave for school. MOST people on our side didn't GET to shatter out. I had 3 lives left, and had to suicide charge and throw them all away because of the time.
And the worst part was, YOUR SOLDIERS WERE CHEATING LIKE ALL HELL. One of your men sloffed an obvious hit literally less than 3 feet away from all of our reeves, and he didn't take it until ALL of them threatened to tell jared. AND I got bitched at for charging at flankers and falling into them after your "lion" of a leader stabbed me in the fucking face with a spear. Oh, because me being stabbed in the eyeball at full force by someone twice my size won't send me staggering to the ground? Fuck you.
And on another, more PERSONAL note. You sloffed every hit we threw at you, and when my good friend jason kicked you, he should've done more. LOike I don't know, maybe beat the QUEER out of you?
You know, I didn't find out about this until just the other day, but if you hadn't lied about it so badly, I wouldn't be as pissed.
Get your god damn facts straight before you start talking smack. this is why no one likes you.
P.S. - You're stupid, if Azure was your enemy why the FUCK would you be going to red mangetsu's park? Simple, YOU didn't even know who the fuck you were fighting.
much hate,
Shinigami Naito
Alright... This is the most amazing load of shit I personally have ever heard. But how was that kick goggles?
First off... I know that we were underarmed and underarmored... We hardly had enough supplies to arm each person on our field with a sword! I, at the time second general of Azure Gengetsu, didn't even have a set of armor! Hell, our Daimyo didn't have armor!
I know after I charged around one of your lines to take your archer out I ended up with a glave in my throat. What did your men do? Did they give me a hand, make sure I was okay, and say sorry like I KNOW any of Azure's members would? NOPE! The fucking stabbed me while I was on the fucking ground gasping for breath. Very fucking sportly of you all.
I also want to know why you thought you were going to Red Bug Lake Park to fight Azure, a group with about twenty strong, no armor, no archers, barely enough weapons to fight with, and a group that was based out of Torcaso Park! Red Mangetsu called Azure in an attempt to ask us to come help us in this raid. And by listing the odds you seem to forget that there were about 5 Sabatsu men and I don't even RECALL any people for Jacksonville.
The numbers were possibly equal but if anything we were outnumbered.
I know at the end I had 3 lives left but my only ride was leaving in 5 to 10 minutes. I had to rush my last three lives to take as many with me as possible.
P.S. Did you forget to mention when one of your "glorious" men charged us and decided to tackle one of our shieldmen and give him a concussion?
Much hate,
Getsueihana Tenraihou
By the way, I apologize to any other sosei (tetsuo) bonzai members that were offended by my post. I know most of you to be very good players and good sports.
Again I apologize, but this article was such a load of shit, that I lost my temper. Even all of your members know that this isn't even close to how the battle went.
I have no problem with it being stated that you completely outmanned us and demolished us, I'd rather just be given more credit than being called a traitor, a cheater, and a dissenter. Last time I checked, it WAS supposed to be you against the rest of the empire because of your size. but bringing 3 clans down to fight one was unnecessary, especially if others were supposed to ally with you.
Besides, I have a personal issue with goggles, so that was part of it too.
Get your damn facts straight before you talk shit and write stuff. That's what causes so much drama and hatred between everyone.
Sigh....the good old days. There was a time when such banter would draw the ire in me, but then again, that was then and this is now. Since I've got your atenttion, a question?
Why did you think it was alright to kick? I don't know anymore for Jared's game, and I could couldn't care less what the rules are now, but back then, we all thought it was amtgard we were playing, and that rulebook was quite clear, kicking is not allowed. So why? Did you think I'd be stupid enough to kick you back? I don't get in fights over something as petty as a game, so I'm sorry to dissapoint, but there's no fistfighting with Goggles, at least not over something as silly as foam fighting, be it Amtgard, WoTS or whatever.
As far as your personal issue, I'd like to talk it over, here's my email, Stormfront2112@yahoo.com Yep, that's right, I'm putting it out there. Troll me all you like, take out all that pent up frustration, agression, whatever. You can light up that inbox for all it's worth. Consider it a gift.
If your serious about talking it over, that's fine too.
I'd like to address one more thing, I heard news that I was part of some "serial list". What does that mean, I'm curious. Is that like the banned, "this guy cannot play WoTS ever!" list, or is it more like "beat this guy with a large blunt object, then poke him with a pointy stick, and if he has cookies, take them!"list?
Just curious, you know...
Hey kids, calm down and play nice.
We all know we hated each other then, and (aparently we're not on great terms still?) But no need to fight.
Look, Tetsu it's in the past, win or lose we're better than we were back then.
Other groups (I actually don't know all of them)- Same thing, win or lose you're better than you were.
And I know a lot of people were talking about cheating, look BOTH sides did it, I don't know who did it more but I could give examples.
Tetsu- our side used pole-arms that were not great weapons as Red.
Other - Illegal throwing weapons were chucked at me a few good times.
I'm not trying to pick fights here. Just seriously, it's dead and gone, they don't even play Amtgard anymore (as far as I know) so why try to argue about a win that by all means shouldn't count either way since neither group was playing legal Amtgard.
We really should just be fellow Larpers, we're all geeks, we know this, they play their geek game we play ours.
We should geek together sometime. You guys wanna work out some day to beat each other with sticks?
Email: Tomsninjaclan@yahoo.com I'm pretty good about checking this.
Well played Tom. That's the truth of it right there. I don't want this bullshit feuding to go on anymore. I did what I did, I wasn't sorry then, but I am now, after realizing that what I had done was immature. If I could convice Jared to actually read an email that I send, I'd tell him that I regret what I did. It'd be nice to have more people to fight with, and in a friendly way, not vicious, like it used to be. Competition is fine, but fighting between games hurts the whole thing, I mean foam fighting in general. It's bad for it.
Look, any SME people can read this, I did something stupid, and it took me a while after the fact to man up and realize that it was. I'm sorry. I was an asshole, and I see it now. It was out of line to spam like that. That's all there is to say, and I feel better.
Holy Jesus when will this end?
I will say that WoTS is to blame for reigniting this arguement, however your account indeed is flawed. I was on the opposing side and I watched as killed fighters would walk halfway back to nirvana then turn around, as if they were regrouping. I also saw quite the bit of sluffing and fell to sluffers a few times. I actually had people coming up to me asking me if they could cheat to make it even. Now there is ALWAYS sluffing on a battlefield no matter what, so I won't be ignorant to say that people on our side weren't, but sluffing to counter sluffers only defeats the purpose.
The bad blood before that battle should have been squashed before we ever went out there. That was a grudge match, not a raid or a battle. Honestly, everybody was over it until a few people, unable to swallow their pride, decided to reignite this.
Honestly, what's done is done and I had an absolute blast at that battle. I chuckled at how flawed some parts of the recreation were, but it was also seen from the other side of the battle field and the eyes of an ally never see more true than those of an enemy.
Everyone in WoTS is over all the old crap and we'd like to have you guys back. Can we all please shut the fuck up about the he said, she said, concerning a battle that was like 9 fucking months ago??? Please, this shit is over and we're in a totally new state of action with new goals and plans. Dwelling in the past is futile and arguing over fairy tales is bullshit.
It was just fight the way i saw it. A few things left out, and a few things polished make it better to read. My side liked it the way it was, and things were left out intentionally so that there was nothing for anyone to object to. I didn't want to make things personal. I hope there'll be an end to all this bull. I just want to fight with people, that's all.
